Ways Of Smoking A Cigar

Most cigars go out in between, and this is considered normal. Even an ardent cigar connoisseur will have to relight a cigar from time to time. In this matter, smoking a cigar is different from smoking a tobacco cigarette. One of the differences is that you do not take in the cigar smoke fully. Instead, the cigar lover would let the smoke linger in his mouth; and afterwards, he smoothly blows it out. Surprisingly, there is a lot more to smoking a tobacco cigar in the right manner. The seasoned and true cigar connoisseur does not enjoy the entire cigar at one go. He would not smoke it past the ribbon because it will not taste better and it is also against proper cigar smoking etiquettes. Cigar connoisseurs usually sit indoors alone or with some friends to enjoy the experience of smoking a cigar. However, some people prefer to smoke a cigar outside, wherever they like. But it is believed that you will be able to extract the most from your tobacco cigar and enjoy the flavour better, if you take time by being with some good friends.

A cigar connoisseur does not stub out a cigar. Instead, he would enjoy the smoke up to the ribbon and would place the cigar in the ashtray; there, the cigar goes out by itself, and that is the way it is done. He usually holds the cigar with his thumb and index finger. If he is smoking a longer cigar, he might use his thumb, index finger, and the middle finger as well. Sticking to the etiquettes, do not hold it between the index finger and the middle finger as in the case of a cigarette.

Cigars taste even better when served with some hot drinks like cognac or brandy. It is considered a mark of elegance and sophistication to smoke a cigar while having cognac. The drink will help conceal the taste of the ash you have in your mouth as you smoke. It will also act up as an enhancer to the cigar smoking experience. However, even if you do not drink, the cigar would still taste nice.

When a cigar company manufactures its own cigars, it is likely to take ample time to produce a perfect tobacco cigar. Although the manufacture of these cigars requires hard work and precision, do not forget about growing the main ingredient, the tobacco plants. It takes more care and dedication to have a good crop. Actually, this aspect pushes the tobacco company to grow only the finest tobacco plants and use it as fillers for their cigars. This will help the company offer the much needed customer satisfaction.

With quality above everything else, some of the leading cigar companies use this principle in their business practices. They offer cigars at affordable prices; the quality of cigars is guaranteed and the customers will come back for more tobacco cigars of the same brand. With a unique taste and a smooth, yet strong, draw, these fine cigars are sure to offer a delightful taste.

Cigar Processing And Different Types

Cigars are mostly named according to their measurements and sizes, but these are not at all strict definitions. In the bunch pressing process, once made, the bunch of cigars go into a mould consisting of 12 to 20 chambers. When the mould is full, it goes to a press and the bunch will get dried during the pressing time. It is a vital and very necessary operation done before the process of wrapping. After 20-30 minutes being under the press, the moulds are opened. Now, the cigar makers will turn the bunch in a right angle to avoid forming prominent lines in the part where both the parts of the mould are joined. After they are kept another 20-30 minutes under the press, the bunch is ready to be wrapped.

In fact, for creating better quality cigarettes and cigars, hand made cigar makers make use of some particular tools. The bunching machine is one such device and it serves particularly to improve the construction process. A rigid frame holds on to a belt and a moving cylinder is activated with the help of a lever. It is the same principle as that of a pocket cigarette rolling machine. Once the belt is filled up in the right manner, the bunch will be rolled evenly by the rotating movement of the machine. This thwarts the fillers from being getting twisted, which happens most of the time, when the bunch is made solely by hand.

Tobacco cigars are either hand-made or machine-made. In both these cases, they can act as long fillers or short fillers. Just imagine the picture of a crisp roll of homogenized tobacco binder, some natural wrappers cut out in advance and placed on an unwoven bobbin, and a short filler dispenser. All the things mentioned above are installed on a machine which has got the capacity to produce more than 20 cigars every minute. If you have a few tobacco leaves in your hand, and if you do not have any tools or accessories, the only way to smoke your stuff is by rolling it into a cigar. Cigars of premium quality are supposed to be hand-made and fall under the category of long filler cigars. There are two ways for setting the quality tobacco leaves in a bunch. The wrong way is to stack the tobacco leaves and to roll them together into shape. This is called as the book method, and it does not provide enough room for air circulation and can demand a heavy draw.

The right method would be to fold each tobacco leaf in accordion style and to place them side by side so that air can pass through and the smoke would deliver a pleasant experience. Handmade long filler cigars contain two to six full tobacco leaves, depending on the size. Tobacco leaves are oval in shape; getting a cylindrical shape with a highly uniform compactness is not very easy. Often, wrapping that comes with something spectacular fascinates people who smoke. But, the aspect of making the bunch requires a lot more skills and expertise.

About Cigar Smoking

What are the basics of cigar smoking?  How do you light a cigar?  How do you draw on the cigar properly?  Do you inhale?  What are the dos and don’ts of cigar smoking?  If you have ever pondered any of these questions, read on.  Here is a simple and accessible primer designed to help you gain familiarity with the sometimes confusing, always enigmatic world of cigar smoking.

First Step:  Lighting Up

First, all new cigar smokers should learn how to properly light a cigar.  Use a clipper designed for cigars to clip off the edge of the head (the section you put to your mouth). If possible light the foot of your cigar with a cedar match.  Avoid regular cigarette lighters.  They produce a nasty odor that can linger and ruin a good cigar.  If you must use a lighter, use butane lighter.  These will keep the odor to a minimum.  However, you should always strive to use a wooden match because lighters can easily taint the foot of your cigar.  How do you light up?  Simply strike a match and hold the edge of your cigar over the flame.  Avoid touching the cigar to the fire, simply hold the cigar over the flame and draw deeply until the cigar is lit.

Second Step:  Burn it down to a nub?

Should you burn your cigar down to a nub?  Experts recommend you leave at least two inches to your cigar.  Even the finest cigars will tend to get bitter if you let it burn all the way down.  What about ashes?  Should you knock the ashes off of your cigar?  Rather than knocking the ashes off the edge, let the cigar rest in the ashtray when you’re not smoking it.  The ashes will fall off naturally.

Third Step:  Relax and Enjoy

A cigar should never be rushed.  By design, cigars should be savored, preferably after dinner and with a glass of good brandy.  Hold the cigar between your thumb and fingers—anything else might be considered bad taste.  Also, don’t inhale deeply.  The smoke should not reach your lung.  This is very bad for your health, and it will not help you taste the cigar any better.  Of course, you should always be considerate of those around you.  If possible, smoke in the company of other cigar smokers. A good cigar can be enjoyed alone and even more so with friends.

Buying Cigars as a Gift

Is there a cigar aficionado on your gift list?  Wondering how to choose a decent cigar for a friend or loved one?  Even if you know nothing about cigars or choosing a good cigar, just learning a few basics can help you sniff out (sometimes literally) a good cigar to give to a friend.

Fortunately, cigars have now entered the mainstream.  Once the symbol of the rich and powerful, it’s easier than ever for just about anyone to purchase a good cigar.  Of course, you probably won’t be able to buy your friend a box of top-tier Cuban cigars, but you can definitely buy them a good quality cigar that will put a smile on their face.

First, visit your local tobacconist or specialty smoke shop for the best quality and widest selection.  Avoid ‘drugstore’ cigars.  Although they may be inexpensive and convenient to purchase, drugstore cigars are usually filled with preservatives and generally of poorer quality.  They may contain, at minimum, saltpeter, paper, glycerin, and other preservatives and irritants.  You should make sure that the cigars you purchase are made of 100% tobacco.  If you have any questions regarding the cigars ingredients, ask the salesperson.  An experienced and knowledgeable sales clerk will be able to tell you extensive information about the ingredients.

Your local tobacco shop is a good place to shop because you will generally be allowed to smell and touch the cigars.  Squeeze the cigar gently.  A good quality cigar will give a little when squeezed.  The cigar should be firm, with no excessively soft or hard spots.  Never buy a lumpy cigar. Look at the wrapper.  If you notice any drying or discoloration, best not to buy it.  Ideally, the wrapper should be tight and smooth.  Inspect the color of the tobacco to make sure it is even.  Do this by inspecting the end of the cigar.  Some color variation is normal, but if the color changes abruptly, chances are the cigar was not rolled properly.  A cigar that is not rolled properly may result in an uneven burning and unpleasant odors.

If you’re not sure how much your friend smokes, choose a longer cigar.  Longer cigars tend to have a ‘cooler’ taste—an excellent choice for beginners. If you know your friend is an experienced and regular smoker, choose a cigar that is greater in diameter.  These cigars tend to have a richer flavor that experienced smokers will appreciate.

Choosing A Good Cigar

There are some realities in life that we are forced to gobble down, no matter how much they make us suffer or choke. For tobacco cigar lovers, one of these realities can often be found lurking in the darkness behind them. Yet, it will not remain hidden forever; every person who is a hardcore smoker and who smokes on a regular basis is bound to discover this sad reality: there exists such a thing called a bad cigar. This might be hard for you, the cigar lover, to take. A person who admires cigars, and who places them on a pedal might find himself in shock by learning this fact. But, keep in mind that bad cigars are somewhat easy to find. The following are some helpful tips regarding how to spot a cigar which is not worth being lit.

It is important to bear in mind that good cigars are not typically sold at the local stores in a market. You may splurge a little and only purchase cigars from places which do not also have an entire cupboard dedicated to tobacco stuff. If you find that your cigar is very dry and does not have that fresh feeling, one reason may be that it does not contain enough humidity. This is a problem that can leave a cigar dry or stale. As a cigar gets dried out, it is very hard to save it because the cigar would have lost many of its essential oils, thereby losing its essential flavour in the process. However, if the cigar is not very dry, it is possible to revive it by placing the cigar in a humidor. This helps in gradually increasing the humidity level. If the cigar is so dry that even the wrapper has begun to crack or peel, it is only good to be thrown away. Always make sure to keep the cigars stored properly inside a good humidor.

When products smell bad, they usually taste bad; this applies to tobacco cigars as well. Smelling a cigar before buying and lighting it is a good way to avoid a bad experience with cigars. If there is something odd about the odour, if it smells stale or just plain awful, chances are that the cigar will produce a bad smoke. This method may be used before purchasing stogies as it can prevent you from spending money on a bad cigar.

Almost every city will boast of a vendor selling cigars with great authenticity by swearing on a stack of quality tobacco leaves. While they may go on to promise all you want, the proof can be found in the pudding. An imitation cigar will ruin a cigar smoking experience. Anyway, fake tobacco cigars are usually rather easy to spot. Watch out for three main things: cigars that carry with them an inexpensive price tag, tobacco cigars that are damaged, or the antics of a cigar vendor who seems too eager to make a sale. This can help you from buying a bad smoke.

In order to check the freshness, you need to pinch them and notice a tender wrapper and binder. Besides, you should also check for any sort of discoloration in each cigar. You should rate the brand depending on the quality and appearance. While you are enjoying the drag, you should also experience a balanced aroma and flavor.  If purchasing online then it is best to purchase from a well known store online.

Flavored cigars are also high in demand.  You can select from a variety of flavored cigars, including bourbon, rum, vanilla, coffee and many other flavors.  Apart from that, many find a vanilla flavored cigar proves to be the best. It has a few drops of vanilla bean flavor and on dragging on it, you will get the flavor of sweet vanilla. Many people prefer this flavor over various other flavors.

Handmade cigars can be found in many stores due to their increasing popularity. As it is believed that the cigars of the best quality are usually handmade, many people only opt for these kinds. They assure a regular quality control, making the smoker feel satisfied and relaxed.

There are several stores that offer an array of cigars online. They provide both branded and smaller boutique cigar lines. So, purchase the cigars according to your preference. Some Facts About Cuban Cigars

Cuban cigars are the most famous cigars among cigar enthusiasts as they are made with hand with great care given to the quality of manufacturing. While making the cigars each leaf is carefully selected, cleaned and dried meticulously and finally rolled through a very complex process. Such sort of a manufacturing process will take more time as compared with cigars made with the assistance of machines. But the smoking experience that the hand made Cuban cigars provides is beyond comparison.

As a result of the embargo placed by the United States on Cuban cigars, there has been a big gap between the demand and supply of the product in the world market. Therefore there had been a surge in the number of spurious Cuban cigar products in the market. Hence it is imperative to differentiate between genuine Cuban cigars and fake ones. For a person who have already used Cuban cigars, differentiating between the real one and the counterfeit, is not a very difficult task. The smoking experience that one would get while using genuine Cuban cigars is absolutely unique, which cannot be provided by ordinary brands or spurious products.

There are certain factors which would be of help to you, if you want to recognise the counterfeit Cuban cigars from the original one. The most important factor is the length of the cigars. Always there won’t be more than 1/16th inch difference between the published length of the cigars and the actual product. Cuban cigars will have a nice ring to it, which is tight, of good colour and contains the word “Habana.” If the word is misspelled, blemished or written in crayon, then chances are that the cigar is spurious. The foot end of Cuban cigars will be cut cleanly and if there are some discrepancies, then the cigar is not the real one.
